1934 Chicago Trib Cartoon - Fits for today

Has anyone seen this cartoon from the 1934 Chicago Tribune? Could anyone come up with a more fitting description of what is going on today?
The man in the street is writing a "Plan of Action for the U.S. "Spend, Spend, Spend under the guise of recovery - bust the government - blame the capitalist for the failure - junk the constitution and declare a dictatorship" (note to the left- "it worked in Russia."
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Take Action against the Employee Free (NO) Choice Act

This comes to us from Dave in Powell.

The Employee Free Choice Act of 2009 is not what you think it is. If you have not read S560 or HR1409 I recommend that you go to http://thomas.loc.gov/home/thomas.html , look up the bills and read them. They are designed to eliminate the right to work clauses that many states have and force more employees into the unions so that they will have to pay union dues.We need to take action now:

1.) Contact your Senators and Congressman to encourage them to vote against these bills.

2.) Contact the Sponsors of these bills and request that they reconsider.

3.) Remember employees should have a right to choose whether they wish to be in a union or not.

4.) Remember employers should have the right to communicate with their employees not through some union thug/representative.

A Cause We Can All Get Behind

The liberal media and the leftists of this country fail to see what the Tea Parties are all about. They claim we are merely protesting taxes, then pull out Obama driven drivel supporting their claim that 95% of people are getting a "tax cut." (Has anybody seen any yet?)

However, that is not the only issue that gets under our skin. For example, the DHS report recently released is a great example of what we are fighting. This report basically labels anybody who dissents with the administration as a right-wing extremist. You are considered extreme if you meet the following criteria;
  • Veterans, including; Korean war veterans, Vietnam war veterans, Gulf war veterans, Iraq War veterans, non-war period veterans, Cold war veterans, and probably WWII veterans as well.
  • Single issue voters, you know, those who are concerned with the abortion of millions of Americans every year, or those who defend marriage between a man and a woman.

Also included are:

  • Those who suffer economic hardship
  • Those who question judicial activism
  • Those who want to protect our borders
  • And of course, those who organize or attend Tea Parties

Finally, some web entrepreneur has put it all together in one place, http://firenapolitano.com/. You can download the full (released version) of the DHS report, along with the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence as well as other helpful resources.

Of course, I am sure Janet Napolitano was working on her own, with no knowledge of this from our supreme leader. He would never condone this sort of action.

The Petition We Are Sending

PETITION
For over two centuries our America has embraced a people with an unshakeable demand for freedom, self-reliance, and independence, with a uniquely American culture that insists on our God-given right of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We have always taken these beliefs for granted, secure in the knowledge that the American people, by consensus, viewed these tenets as articles of faith. This is no longer the case. Some of us, by lack of understanding, years of indoctrination, or selfishness no longer ask what they "can do for their country," but now demand that their "country do for them". These misguided citizens no longer wish for an equal opportunity, for the chance to pursue happiness, for the freedom to succeed; they wish, instead, that government give them an equal result, to supply them with all the rewards of work without the troublesome matter of merit. These citizens have forgotten that "any government big enough to give them all they want is also big enough to take away all they have."

We believe that the vast majority of Americans do work, earn an honest living, support their families, live within their means, pay their debts, and taxes. We also believe that the vast majority of Americans are appalled by a government completely out of control, a government that has grown so large, so cumbersome, so frightful, so irresponsible that we must petition our government for redress of our grievances. Unless our government is reined in, and once again becomes limited in scope and power, we are in grave danger of becoming as equally victimized as our forefathers were in 1776.

We believe:
1. The federal government had no right, using an "economic crises," as a pretext, to use billions of our dollars to bailout private business, whether it be a wall street firm, brokerage house, auto manufacturer, or any bank or lending institution. To subsidize incompetence and failure will do nothing to cure the problem but only reward it.

2. The federal government had no right to compel lending institutions to grant billions of dollars in loans to unqualified home buyers causing an abundance of foreclosures, then forcing us taxpayers to pay their mortgages!

3. The federal government had no right to rush through and pass a 1000 page legislation without the common sense of reading it and knowing what it contained.

4. The federal government had no right, at this precarious time, to spend billions of dollars on idiotic pork barrel projects then term the legislation as a "stimulus package."

5. The federal government has no right to try and push through congress a cap-and- trade tax on our energy consumption which will cause our energy bills to skyrocket.

6. The federal government has no right to try to federalize education to further indoctrinate our children in a leftist, socialist agenda.

7. We believe the administration is helping to create this sense of crises and fear in order for this crises "not go to waste" by changing America to enact the most radical agenda of social transformation in our lifetime, from a country based on liberty and free enterprise to a country based on European liberal fascism and socialism.

Obama's Bow

When I first heard about the Obama bowing before the king of Saudi Arabia, I thought maybe is was just a nod of the head. It is definately not that. It seems like an extremely humble bow of a devout follower to, well, his king. Check it out.

Obama's Obscience

Truly disgusting.

Good Quotes to Ponder

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826)

We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826) , letter to Samuel Kercheval, July 12, 1816

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826)

Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.
Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826)

KEEP THE CHANGE... I'LL KEEP MY FREEDOM, MY GUNS, AND MY MONEY"

"DON'T SPREAD MY WEALTH... SPREAD MY WORK ETHIC!"

Work harder: Millions on welfare are counting on you.

Terrorists won't destroy America: Liberals are beating them to it.

Ignore your rights and they'll go away.

"Taxation with representation ain’t so hot either." — Gerald Barzan, humorist

Frederic Bastiat, quotes about Tax:
It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.

Sir Winston Churchill, quotes about Tax:
We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.

Davy Crockett, quotes about Tax:
There ain't no ticks like poly-ticks. Bloodsuckers all.

Benjamin Disraeli, quotes about Tax:
To tax the community for the advantage of a class is not protection, it is plunder.

Steve Forbes, quotes about Tax:
The Declaration of Independence, the words that launched our nation -- 1,300 words. The Bible, the word of God -- 773,000 words. The Tax Code, the words of politicians -- 7,000,000 words -- and growing!

Benjamin Franklin, quotes about Tax:
When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

Thomas Jefferson quotes:
Jefferson still survivies. John Adams

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock

Enlighten the people, generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like spirits at the dawn of day.

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive.

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.

We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.

If our house be on fire, without inquiring whether it was fired from within or without, we must try to extinguish it.

An honest man can feel no pleasure in the exercise of power over his fellow citizens.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.

That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.

A little rebellion now and then...is a medicine necessary for the sound health of government.

Letter to James Madison, 1787
Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.
Thomas Jefferson (Motto on his seal)

When a man assumes a public trust, he should consider himself as public property

If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.

Sometimes it is said that man cannot be trusted with the governing of himself. Can he, then, be trusted with the government of others? Or have we found angels in the forms of kings to govern him? Let history answer this question. Thomas Jefferson (1743 - 1826) , First Inaugural Address

Help Rescue America

Our Founding Fathers gave us the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, in order to throw off the shackles of government and to insure the rights of Personal Freedom. Through their Divine wisdom our country has prospered as no other country in the history of the world. The principles of Freedom and Personal Responsibility have inspired men of all races, creeds and color to work and create and build and prosper. The blood of countless patriots has given us Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness as declared in the Declaration of Independence and guaranteed by our Constitution.

The Constitution has given us a rich heritage of religion, allowing men to worship how, where or what they may. These Divine documents are the instruments of Freedom. If we are to remain free and great we must protect the rights guaranteed in these documents.

There are those who are trying to re-write our Constitution. There are those who are trying to change the interpretation of our Constitution by using the courts to remove our Liberties. There are those who want government to control every aspect of our lives. Government is entangling itself in the free market system picking winners and losers. This practice will certainly destroy successful companies who find themselves competing with our tax dollars. This is an unconstitutional practice depriving successful Americans of their rights to Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, and the Protection of Property. If this practice is not stopped it will end in the destruction of the free market system which will vanquish the American Dream for all Americans.

The courts too often support those who are trying to remove God from our society, which is the equivalent of replacing traditional religious values with a state sponsored religion called Atheism. The courts are forcing us to accept evil religious practices and doctrines. Medical practitioners are being forced by the Courts to perform abortions even though it is against their religious beliefs and is a mockery of God to kill these unborn children. Our religious and our personal Freedoms are being trampled. Our traditional family rights are being attacked from every side. We are facing a Constitutional crisis. We are losing our Liberties and we are losing our Nation.

Let every American stand up for our Constitution and the rights guaranteed within it. Let every American re-declare his/her Liberty. Along with our American Flag let every American fly or display the "Declaration of Liberty Flag" to show their support and reaffirm their allegiance to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Let us show our friends, our neighbors, our customers, our wives, our children, our fallen dead, and our misguided politicians that we will honor and support Liberty. Let our whole Nation see us fly the Declaration of Liberty Flag. I promise you that God will go before you, that this is His work, that you are His people and that He is your God. God Bless You and God Bless American!

Our company name is "HelpRescueAmerica.com”. Please do your part by letting people know how you feel about Freedom and our Constitution. Let us send a message to those who would place us in bondage. "We Will Not Yield".

Protest Time Changed

After a meeting with several party members, we determined that our protest would be more effective if we concetrate the volume of people by narrowing the timeframe. The new times are 11AM to 1PM on April 15th.

Other items
  • There will be a few short words by some of the organizers and then an open mike for anybody who wants to say something to our representatives.
  • There will also be a petition to sign that we can send off to those mismanaging our tax dollars in Washington.
  • An email sign up form will be available for people who want to keep in touch with future events.
  • An action flyer will be handed out with a list of other things people can do to get involved.

Any new developments will be posted here, please check back frequently.

We Must All Hang Together

While watching the impending floods in Fargo North Dakota and Moorehead Minnesota, I was struck by the people power involved in trying to save those towns from destruction. Everybody is lending a hand and they have all been working non-stop through the night in the freezing tempatures. That is what America is all about, people taking a stand to protect their homes, their very lives. The willpower, perserverance, and hard work of those people may be able to stem the flood and preserve those towns.

Although our danger is not as obvious as the flooding occuring in the mid-west, all Americans are currently at risk. The flood of debt that is pouring out of Washington threaten to destroy our lives every bit as much as the destructive Red River that threaten those who live there. While we up in Northern Wyoming are blessed with very few natural disasters that we must combat, and have not been trained to work together on such a large scale, we are still Americans, we know how to stand up and protect our freedoms.

Every freedom we hold dear is under attack today, the first amendment only applies to those who toe the party line, the second amendment is in danger, the tenth amendment has been ignored for many years now. The least we can do as a people under this threat is to turn out and make our displeasure known. There will be much more asked of us in the future.

The Cody Tea Party on April 15, along with the thousands of other tea parties throughout America is just the beginning. As Benjamin Franklin said during the first American Revolution "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately." America is just a few short steps away from sacrificing freedom for tyrrany and we must not let that happen.

Several Ways You Can Help Cody Tea Party

Since this is a grass roots campaign, I do not want to get into making it a big organized production. There are a few things though we can do to make the protest bigger and better. Here is a list of some things you can do to help us out.

  • 2-3 press releases - assigned
  • Logo, someone suggested something with "Don't Tread on Me" flag
    - open
  • Set up a Cafe Press store
  • Letters to the editor - open to whomever wants to write one
  • Flyers, nothing too fancy, just something to help spread the word - open

Finally, the best thing you can do is tell two more people about the protest and see if they will come.

Turnout, Turnout, Turnout!

Remember back in the 70's, there was a goofy shampoo commercial where a lady with exceptionally clean hair loved her shampoo so much that she told two friends, and those friends told two friends, and they told two friends, and so on, and so on...

That type of exponential word of mouth is what we need to get a good turn out for our tax day tea rally. Communities across the country will be protesting taxes on that day and we want to ensure that Cody does its part in the fight.

So, tell two friends, and have those friends tell two friends, and so on, and so on....

Orlando Success

There are tea parties popping up all over the United States. Cincinnati and Orlando have shown impressive turn-outs. Here is a link to some pictures from the Orlando rally. It would be great to do something similar after our successful rally here.

Orlando

We will need people to show up with digital camera's to take some images and videos. We can post them on You Tube as well.

Lloyd Marcus also performed this song in Orlando. A great message and not a bad song at all.

Tea Bags

One of my co-workers had the excellent idea to affix tea bags to your rearview mirror. This way, as we drive around town we can identify our compatriots. I tried tying one to the antenna, but lost it in the Cody wind before the vehicle even got moving.

Rearview mirror seems to be the best bet. Look for business cards about town pointing people to the website and the twitter account.

Tax Day Tea

I hope to have an inital tea party on tax day, April 15th. Unfortunately, that is on a Wednesday and many responsible people are working on that day. It may be possible to set something up around noon and just have a table or something with a petition.

There are going to be a number of tea parties throughout the country on tax day and I would like us to do something at that time to show our support.

Welcome to Cody Tea Party

If you are reading this blog, you are probably fed up with the redistribution of wealth that is taking place in America. Since taking office, President Obama has plunged us deeper into debt than anybody thought possible. Whether it is negligence or simple naivité, his feet need to be held to the fire. Concerned Americans can make their voice heard by joining a grass-roots tea party.

Rick Santelli started it all with his call for a Chicago Tea Party on CNBC.
